WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent makeup solution (cosmetic tattoo) designed to enhance the lips color, shape and symmetry while creating the illusion of fuller lips.
HOW IS LIP BLUSH DONE?
Using a small needle, our artists will layer the desired color pigment into your lips using a cosmetic tattoo machine. The more the artist layers the pigment, the denser the results will be.
AM I a GOOD CANDIDATE?
The process goes far beyond finding the right artist. It's just as important to determine whether your skin is fit and ready to be tattooed. From your age, sensitivity to the condition and quality of your skin, a lot goes into the safety and effectiveness of the lip blush process.
Ineligible Without Exception
Individuals under 18 years of age
We cannot tattoo anyone under 18 years of age, even with parental consent.
Women who are pregnant or nursing
As the body is going through hormonal changes, it is more prone to infections. Your skin may change and results can be unpredictable.
Individuals with Pacemaker or major heart problems
We use epinephrine, as a numbing agent, that can increase your heart rate possible causing dysrhythmias.
Individuals with viral infections and/or diseases
The risk of developing an infection is higher in people with compromised immune system.
Individuals with Lupus
The risk of developing an infection is higher in people with compromised immune system.
Individuals who have undergone Organ Transplant
The risk of developing an infection is higher in people with compromised immune system.
Individuals with any kind of skin condition on or near the treatment area
Eczema, dermatitis, rosacea, psoriasis or any one of these skin conditions may compromise the surface and texture of the skin. Procedure performed on skin with these type of condition may have sub par results.
Individuals who are allergic to metal and color
We use small needles and pigments that can contain some metals and colorant, so allergy can be a show stopper.
Individuals prone to keloids
Since permanent makeup punctures the skin, there is always a risk for people that are prone to keloids to heal with keloids scaring
Individuals who used Accutane
Accutane alters the skin and makes it thin, dry, and sensitive. It also weakens your immune system. For those reasons you'll need to one year after your Accutane treatment is completed and your skin is back to its normal state.
Eligible With Doctor Clearance
Individuals undergoing chemotherapy
Although permanent makeup is great for enhancing your look, we require a doctor's note in order to perform the procedure for anyone undergoing chemotherapy. Once you're cleared from your oncologist we can book your appointment. Permanent makeup is a great solution for cancer survivors.
Individuals with Diabetes
It is important that your condition is stable and under control. Please consult with your physician.
Individuals with Thyroid Condition
The color of your brows can fade faster when taken with certain thyroid medications.
Individuals with High Blood Pressure
Your blood pressure has to be at a stable condition. You may have slightly greater bleeding than the norm. Excessive bleeding during the procedure can dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results.
Individuals that have any uncertainty regarding their pre-existing conditions, or are under the supervision of a physician, please consult with your doctor before booking an appointment.
Eligible Based on Individual Cases
Individuals with a dark pre-existing lip blush
The tattoo or permanent makeup must be light enough for us to work over. We ask anyone with a previous lip blush to send us an email with a picture of their lips with no makeup on, so we can evaluate.
Individuals who are allergic to lidocaine or epinephrine
Our most used anesthetic is lidocaine and epinephrine so if you are allergic to it, we will not be able to use it during the procedure; however, you will still have an option to proceed but without a numbing agent to reduce the pain.
Individuals that are prone to cold sore
If you are prone to cold sores, lip blushing may result in an outbreak and cause loss of pigment. You must start taking antiviral medication, prescribed by your doctor and NOT over the counter, 48 hours prior to treatment to prevent an outbreak.
Individuals with a dark lips or prone to hyperpigmentation
In some cases we can not work over dark lips or people prone to hyperpigmentation. Due to the hyper pigmentation getting darker. We ask anyone with dark lips or prone to hyperpigmentation to send us an email with a picture of their bare lips and surrounding area of their lips with no makeup on, so we can evaluate.
Individuals with sun damaged skin
It can result in poor retention of pigment.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
- Do sugar scrubs every day for at least one week prior to appointment to exfoliate and remove any dry skin.
- Moisturize as much as possible with aquaphor. Lips cannot be dry at all on the day of appointment.
- If you are prone to cold sores, lip blushing may result in an outbreak and cause loss of pigment. You must start taking antiviral medication, prescribed by your doctor 48 hours prior to treatment to prevent an outbreak.
- If you are not prone to cold sores, we highly recommend everyone take the over the counter supplement called l-lysine for 2 days before their appointment.
- Do not take any blood thinning medications for at least 2 days prior.
- No lip fillers for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to your lip blush appointment.
